One Hundred Rubbish Drawings

One Hundred Rubbish Drawings is an automated directives drawing project I did back in 2017.

The basic idea is to set yourself some rules, or directives, and then follow them.

I didn't reach 100 drawings in the end. I reached 72. It's the most consistent I've ever been with drawing.

Thanks for the idea Kate Bingaman-Burt which I got from watching your talk for Creative Mornings: https://vimeo.com/31610153

Automated Directives
  1. Draw one item of my rubbish every day.
  2. Use the same black permanent marker pen and draw on tracing paper (just because I like the look of the black pen on the translucent grey and the sound of tracing paper).
  3. Photograph and upload each day’s drawing to a blog on the day.
  4. While drawing make a note of one thought you had or something you did that helped you in your drawing.
  5. Each time you reach a square number of drawings create a square collage.
  6. Stop after 100 days when you have 100 drawings.
